Sanyal, Shyamal K., Kaur, Inder, Hooja, Vijaya, Thapar, Mohinder, K., and Vaishnava, Sarla (1970). Archives ofDisease in Childhood, 45, 198. Staphylococcal pericarditis with cardiac tamponade in children. Six children with acute staphylococcal pericarditis with cardiac tamponade are presented. In any patient with staphylococcal infection, the sudden onset of dyspnoea, tachycardia, tachypnoea, distended and pulsatile neck veins, hepatomegaly, puffy face and pulsus paradoxus should suggest the diagnosis of pericarditis with acute cardiac tamponade. Prompt drainage by pericardiocentesis or pericardiostomy is essential.

Acute Brucellar pericarditis with cardiac tamponade without any concurrent cardiac lesion is an extremely rare manifestation . In this paper a 63 year old man is reported with brucellosis and massive pericardial effusion and tamponade . This case is very rare and there are finger count report of Brucella induced cardiac tamponade were in the international b...
متن کاملA rare case of reactive pericardial effusion with cardiac tamponade subsequent to meningococcal meningitis.
We report a case of cardiac tamponade in a child with meningococcal disease. Although purulent meningococcal pericarditis is more frequent in children, we found a reactive pericardial effusion responsive to steroids and consistent with a rare immune-complex associated pericardial involvement.
متن کاملCLINICOPATHOLOGIC CORRELATIONS Uremic Pericarditis as a Cause of Cardiac Tamponade
Uremic pericarditis may complicate either acute or, more commonly, chronic renal failure. When dialysis is not employed, uremic pericarditis is usually a preterminal event and is characterized by a serofibrinous exudation of an amount inadequate to cause cardiac tamponade. Nevertheless, cardiac tamponade may uncommonly be observed in nondialyzed patients. Cardiac tamponade, which may be life-th...
متن کاملDiagnostic value of the biochemical tests in patients with purulent pericarditis
OBJECTIVES Purulent pericarditis is a collection of purulent effusion in the pericardial space. It has become a rare entity with the increased availability and use of antibiotics. In contrast to pleural empyema, there are few data regarding the biochemical parameters of purulent pericardial effusion to aid diagnosis. Therefore, in this study, we have evaluated the diagnostic utility of biochemi...
